Friday's racing !

Common keep up ! There's a top sprint at Newbury in the Dubai Duty Free Double Millionaire Handicap run over 5f 34yds on Friday afternoon. The going is Good to Firm which knocks out a few horses and there are a few making their seasonal appearances. The most recent good form would appear to be that of Secret Asset who came second to the in form Iver Bridge Lad (who just missed out for 2nd in the Abernant Stakes at Newmarket today) when beaten 2 lengths at Nottingham when receiving 6lb. He came with what looked like a winning run there and was beaten by the above and with Ryan Moore back in the saddle again, he may wait a little longer this time, he should be bang there. Behind him that day was Five Star Junior but he is actually worse off at the weights and probably wants another furlong although Fallon will be pushing hard to the line.
One who could run well on his reappearance is Striking Spirit who has finished 1st and 2nd in 2009 and 2010 on his first runs of the season, although idealy he wants 6f. Caperccaillie has had a run at Wolverhampton and is now in the care of Clive Cox who said she showed loads of tactical speed there and that is why she has been dropped back to 5f for this, she could be in the places.
Its a tricky little race though because so many are coming back from their winter breaks and we dont know for sure where they are as far as preparation goes, so I'm going to go with Secret Asset whose 2nd to Iver Bridge Lad hasnt turned out to be bad form and he has run well here in the past and the 7/1 on offer is worth a punt, however I will be keeping a watching brief on all of the runners with a view to future engagements.
